Director, International Studies Degree Program
Professor of Theater Arts and English
m-greenwald@tamu.edu

“Doc G” was appointed to a three-year term as Director of the International Studies Degree Program in August 2007.  He received his Ph.D. in Dramatic Arts from the University of California-Santa Barbara (1981) and has taught Theatre, English, and Speech at Texas A&M since 1985.

He is a recipient of an Association of Former Students Distinguished Teaching Award from Texas A&M, and has taught in England, Italy, and China (where he directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream in 1989). Thanks to a generous Alcoa Scholar for International Excellence award in 1999, he took eight Aggies to Mexico where they performed two plays in Spanish at five universities in three cities.  He is also the lead writer of The Longman Anthology of Drama and Theater: A Global Perspective (2000), the largest collection of international plays (61) under one cover.

He is an active member of the TAMU Faculty Senate and is an Aggie Dad whose London-born son, Sean, is a proud member of the class of ’06.  When not on campus in the summer, he spends time golfing and beach bumming in his home town, San Diego. Thanks to his travel agent wife, Demetra, he has traveled extensively.
