Rubi Reyes, class of 2007, went to work helping college students go abroad. Since then, Reyes has been invited to numerous seminars on International travel and affairs. She even presented during International Week and spoke regarding “Etiquette Around the World”. She worked with three other individuals around the US from prestigious universities and spoke at NAFSA, a conference mainly for executives or directors. Reyes was recruited for NAFSA because of her experience with media and culture that she gained through her INTS degree. “They needed a fresh face and I was asked to be a part of their team. Our presentation was regarding using social media during emergency situations abroad. At that time the earthquake in Haiti had just happened, where one of our students went missing, but was found with social media. Also the tension was heating up in Egypt and we had students at the American University of Cairo that needed to be airlifted out by the US.” Reyes has since changed careers to SOMETHING, but the flexibility of her International Studies Degree has helped her in all fields.”You can make a great career out of International Studies; I do not regret my degree at all. Best degree ever!”
